I have thought it over very carefully, and I will not be renewing my membership in the North Star Newfoundland Club. The reason is very simple: I do not currently have a Newfoundland and, realistically, am not likely to be a Newf parent in the future. In the event of an emergency, I need to be able to lift and carry any animals in my care. Much as I would love the experience of living with a Newf, this dream becomes less realistic with each passing year. This past year has taught me that my forty pound Sussex Spaniel is at the top of my weight lifting range. Do not get me wrong, I love the breed - the gentleness, the massiveness, the majesty - and will continue to be a Newfie groupie at every opportunity. I so appreciate that you let me hang out with the crowd at the Manke manse and the Granite City shows. Thank you!
