His owners rushed him to a northwest Michigan clinic for care. Based on his x-rays Dr. Selena Molnar determined that specialized surgery was required, estimated to be $5,000.00. Due to the costs his owners relinquished Arlo to Dr. Molnar and she contacted NCA Rescue. NCA Rescue committed the funding for Arlo’s surgery since his case met NCA Rescue’s criteria – a sound diagnosis and a good prognosis. Dr. Molnar arranged Arlo’s surgery at a veterinary specialty clinic in Flint, Michigan over 200 miles south and volunteered to transport Arlo to the specialty surgical center – 7 hours roundtrip - and to donate her costs. “Arlo” is recovering and has been adopted by a retired veterinary technician who has rehabilitated and adopted several Great Danes and Newfoundlands. Part of his physical therapy is wading into the water at the family’s lake cabin and lounging on the deck with his Dane and Newf friends.
