NCA e-Notes January 2022

January 25, 2022
Fellow Newfoundland Enthusiasts:

On behalf of the Newfoundland Club of America’s Board of Directors and the 2022 NCA National Specialty Committee, we wanted to let you know that plans for our upcoming show are well underway and moving forward. “The Greatest Show” will go on!

We are excited to be able to bring everyone together after a two year absence. We want to assure those who are looking forward to attending that much thought and careful consideration has gone into the planning of the show and related events scheduled for the week. We ask that you please keep in mind that while we will be strictly adhering to current COVID related protocols as recommended by the CDC, the State of Michigan, local governing bodies and the AKC, we recognize the ever changing face of this pandemic and the times in which we live. A degree of flexibility and adaptability will be requested from all in attendance. We ask that you look inward to a place of compromise and compassion for others who share a common love of our breed keeping in mind that you might be asked to make reasonable accommodations for the greater good and the ability to hold our National Specialty this year.

We will do our best to provide timely and specific information on how various events will be held so that each of you may make your own personal decision on participation based on your own level of comfort. We have adapted plans to hold as many events outside as is reasonably possible including the TopDog Celebration and offering an outdoor grooming alternative. We are looking at options to modify large gatherings, such as the Annual Meeting and the Big Top Banquet, to allow for greater social distancing. We strongly suggest compliance with the CDC’s recommendation to wear a mask when indoors in public areas and to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As we move closer to the opening of registrations and entries in March, we will keep you updated on revisions to events and any requirements that will be enforced.

We thank you in advance for exercising care and understanding allowing us to once again gather with our dogs for a week at “The Greatest Show”, the Newfoundland Club of America’s National Specialty.

Kind Regards,
Susan Wagner, Chair
