Hi All,  I hope you all are staying cool during this extraordinary long heat wave.  I have a few things I'd like to share with the club.  I have been working with Good Dog (gooddog.com) on bringing awareness to purebred rescues, specifically ours, and applied for their grant program.  I am happy to announce that Northstar Newfoundland Club has been awarded a grant in the amount of $800 to use towards our rescue efforts! I have attached the flyer to this email.  I will also put this out on our Facebook page, and we can put this out on our website as well. We do have 2 dogs in rescue at the moment. One will probably stay with her foster family, and the other we are getting healthy so we can put him up for adoption.   At the summer meeting in Cambridge, we decided that our Fall Membership meeting will be Saturday, September 25th at the Manke Castle. We do not have a topic or activity planned yet.  We are open to suggestions.  I do, however, would like to go over the committees we have listed in our by-laws and try and recruit some members to help fill those positions.  The following are the Committees or Positions and who is currently in that position:i. If interested, you are welcome to work in any committee.  Next, Northstar's Regional Specialty will be held October 8-9, 2021.  It will be in conjunction with the Granite City and Wright County Kennel Clubs to form a 4 day fall cluster which is October 7-10th. The Board decided to go ahead with the Prairie Dog pottery again as prizes. We also upped our prize for Junior Handler. I had a lady in Italy make up wood and iron leash holders that will be our Junior prizes. I have attached pictures of them as well.   We are seeking sponsors for our trophies. Trophy cost this year totaled $700.  I have received $300 in sponsors already.  If you would like to sponsor a trophy, please let me know.  And the last thing I have is our open Secretary position.  After our summer meeting, Sarah Lyons has volunteered to fill this position.  She has 3 newfs and a cane corso. She does confirmation showing with 2 of the newfs, one being handled by her son as a Junior handler.
